How To Migrate All Your Data From One Android Phone To Another

The speed with which new products hit the market is impressive. We have just bought the latest cell phone model and we already find that the brand has announced the launch of the next, the worst is that we have become fully consumer and we want everything.

data transfer

Maybe this is not your case and rather, you are changing your mobile because the previous one you lost, it was stolen, or simply it was time to change it. In any of the cases, it is convenient that you have in mind some recommendations to migrate data from one Android to another.

This task became more complicated since the phones no longer only store the information of our contacts, but also images, videos, applications, text messages, special configurations and other things. But do not be discouraged, there are some tools that will make you enjoy your new Android phone in less time than you imagine.

Backup Copy

In order not to lose even one of your files it is necessary that you first make a backup of all your information. This is achieved by making a backup or backup that will allow you to migrate all your data from one Android phone to another in a simpler way. Here we leave you three alternatives with which you can achieve it.

My Backup
This application is available from the Play Store for free and allows us to make a backup of our data on our own equipment, however, to transfer them to another device it is necessary that we acquire My Backup Pro. By purchasing the Pro version we can install the application on several different devices – in this case, the old and the new Android phone. Both devices must be connected to the same network. When opening the application we have the option to create an account for backups in the cloud, this is useful in case of loss or theft, but it is not necessary. My Backup Pro allows you to select what you want to migrate from among Data(contacts, call logs, bookmarks, SMS, system settings, alarms, dictionaries, calendars and music playlist) and Applications and multimedia (applications, photos, music and videos).
Super Backup
This application allows you to make a backup of our installed applications, SMS, contacts, call records, calendars and bookmarks. Unlike My Backup, the paid version of Super Backup only frees us from annoying ads. With this application, we can program automatic backups that are saved in Google Drive or Gmail and that can be downloaded to restore other devices and also ours.
Phone Transfer
Phone Transfer is a desktop program, available for Windows and Mac OSX, that allows you to migrate data from one phone to another. It also has several modes of transfer: phone to phone (this is the one used for Android devices), restore iPhone, restore from backup and delete your old phone. Phone Transfer allows you to migrate contacts (name, number, email, address, company name, position, etc.), messages, call records, music, video, images, applications, playlists, song lyrics, photo album and more. After installing the program both phones are connected through the USB ports of the computer so that Phone Transfer can detect the models and perform the data transfer.

Encrypt And Reset

Believe it or not, restoring a computer to its factory settings does not ensure that our personal data is completely removed. Usually what is done with this method is to tell the system that all our data can be overwritten with new ones and, although it is not an easy task, there may be people who can access the old mobile data that we are restoring.

To avoid this kind of problems, Android has a functionality that allows us to encrypt our data. Encryption is a process in which information is transformed so as not to allow other people to read it. To encrypt our data before a factory reset, go to your Android Settings and tap the Security option to select Encryption. To perform this operation it is recommended that you have the battery of the equipment fully charged or connected to the power supply because the process can take up to an hour and if the operation is interrupted it can cause a total or partial loss of the data. You can encrypt accounts, settings, applications, data, multimedia files and other types of files.

Once the encryption or encryption is finished, you can restore your device to the factory settings by going to Settings / Backup and selecting Factory data to reset. Once the restoration is finished, you can turn off the equipment and remove the SD card to use it in another device. On computers with Android Lollipop, the factory restoration performs the encryption of our data automatically.

Tips To Write Faster On Your Mobile With Touch Screen

The old cell phones had a keyboard known as a numerical “keypad”, composed mainly of a block of keys with numbers and symbols that contained all the letters of the alphabet distributed in 12 keys. For those of us who had a cell phone with a keyboard like these, we learned to develop strategies to write faster. One of them was to learn how many “touches” you needed to give the key to write the letter you wanted.

How To Type Faster On Android

With the arrival of cell phones with touch screen, all this changed. Most of the current mobiles incorporate a QWERTY keyboard directly on the device’s screen, which includes a better distribution of all the letters of the alphabet. However, many people still have problems writing on this type of keyboards, so we show you below, some tricks to help you write faster on the screen of your mobile.

REGARDING THE ORIENTATION OF THE DEVICE

The most common ways to hold a mobile phone are: (1) hold the device horizontally with both hands and use your thumbs to write; and (2) use one hand to hold the device and the index finger of the other to touch the screen.

Either of these two forms is correct, everything will depend on the comfort of the user and the size of the device that we hold. Well sometimes the bigger the device is, the more space we have to cover and the technique of the two thumbs may not work properly.

Another way to help us write on the screen of our phone is to use a rigid case that allows us to hold the phone to have both hands free and use all fingers, just as we would on a laptop keyboard.

SELF-CORRECTION AND PREDICTION OF WORDS

The spell checker is the best or worseAllied while we write. It is common for all smartphones to have this functionality, but if you still do not see it, you may have to activate it from the text input configuration of your device.

The spell checker suggests alternative words as we write to select the one that best suits what we want to say. On the other hand, the auto-corrector the one that has caused us more than one misunderstanding- automatically corrects words that it considers incorrect by those that most resemble those written by the user.

The advantage of these two writing systems is that they learn the more we use them, which is why it is a good alternative to use them every day so that their correction alternatives improve and adjust better to the way we write.

VOICE WRITING

Instead of spending hours trying to write correctly, you can use solution alternatives that are much more comfortable for users, such as voice writing. The voice text input is much more common than before thanks to the improvement of the algorithms that allow this functionality.

In almost all smartphones that exist in the market, this feature is already configured, which appears regularly as a microphone icon next to the letters of the keyboard or in some other applications. By pressing this button, the system will record everything you say and automatically convert it to text so you can send the message more quickly.

Siri is a useful assistant that we can use on iOS devices. In Android devices, an interesting functionality is the one that Google Now incorporates, with Ok Google.

SWYPE KEYBOARDS

The Swype keyboards are designed specifically for touchscreen devices and were originally created for Android devices, but thanks to some third party applications are now possible to install on iOS devices.

Swype is a predictive text input model where the user places himself on the screen keyboard and swipes his finger across the letters to form a word. The route followed by your finger lights up with a pretty fun colour line. This type of keyboards has the same structure of a QWERTY keyboard and has a database where it stores the unknown words to detect them the next time the user types them.

For Android devices, this keyboard comes by default and for iOS devices, it is possible to install them through two applications: Swype and SwiftKey.

TEXT SHORTCUTS

A very effective method to write faster on mobile devices and that many are unaware of, is the use of text shortcuts. This functionality allows us to write words by means of “abbreviations” that have been previously configured. For example, we can configure the mobile’s keyboard to detect every time we write “HBD” so that it can be converted to “Happy Birthday” and thus avoid writing the complete sentence.

To configure your shortcuts in iOS, go to Settings, General, Keyboard and, in the bottom part, select «Create quick function». Write the phrase or long word you want to write in the «Voice» section and the shortcut you want to use in «Quick function». For Android devices go to Settings, Language and text entry, Personal dictionaries, For all languages and touch the “Add” button that is located in the upper right part of the screen. In «Phrase» write the sentence or words that the keyboard should use and in «Substitution text», the shortcut of text you want to use.
